Job summary

IOT Manufacturing Sdn Bhd is seeking a hands-on Optical Lab Testing Engineer to support testing, validation and optimisation of cameras, imaging modules, lenses and related vision technology products.

You will work closely with R&D, Quality and Manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycle, from prototype testing through to production. At least 2 years of optical testing experience and a degree in a related field are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in optical testing, imaging systems, camera development or optical laboratories.
• Good understanding of optics, imaging systems and image quality evaluation.
• Experience with optical testing equipment such as MTF systems, integrating spheres, spectrometers, photometers, colorimeters or collimators is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW or similar tools for data analysis and automation is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with good attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
• Experience in security cameras, smart‑home devices, consumer electronics, machine vision, automotive vision, optical sensors or IoT products will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct optical performance testing and characterisation of cameras, lenses and imaging systems.
• Evaluate image quality including MTF, FOV, distortion, colour accuracy, resolution, SNR, dynamic range, low-light and autofocus performance.
• Set up, operate and maintain optical testing equipment and laboratory facilities.
• Develop and improve test methods, fixtures and test setups to enhance accuracy, repeatability and efficiency.
• Analyse test data, identify performance issues and support root cause investigations.
• Prepare technical reports and present test findings to engineering and project teams.
• Support product validation across EVT, DVT, PVT and manufacturing ramp‑up.
• Identify opportunities for test automation and process improvement.
