Job summary

SERI BOTANI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL SDN BHD in Ipoh, Perak, is seeking a qualified Music teacher to plan engaging lessons, deliver instruction, and support curriculum aligned with school goals.

The candidate should have at least 3 years of teaching Music at primary level, be able to play and teach one or more instruments, and communicate well with students, parents, and staff. Multilingual abilities are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate diploma or degree in Music or Education.
• Minimum 3 years of teaching or tutoring experience in Music, preferably at Primary level.
• Ability to play and teach one or more musical instruments.
• Experience in organising or supporting school performances will be an added advantage.
• Fluency in multiple languages and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare lesson plans and curricular materials, including assessments.
• Deliver lessons effectively to students according to their learning level.
• Advise and contribute to curriculum development aligned with school goals.
• Assess and monitor student progress and prepare reports for principal and parents.
• Communicate regularly with parents about student progress.
• Participate in extra-curricular activities and school events.
• Safeguard students' safety and welfare.
• Be a role model in professionalism and ethics.
• Undertake other duties as directed by management.

Job description

To plan and prepare lesson plans and curricular materials including planning and implementing of learning assessments for the assigned teaching subject.

To deliver lessons effectively according to the learning ability of the students within the class.

To advise and contribute to curriculum development ensuring it is aligned with the school’s goals.

To assess, evaluate and monitor students’ academic performance through assessments, prepare and keep relevant reports for the principal and parents.

To undertake regular communication and effective sharing of students’ progress and parents.

To be updated and keep abreast with the latest teaching/education pedagogy and technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

To actively participate in extra-curricular activities with students, support and assist all school activities and events.

To safeguard the students’ safety and welfare.

Being a role model for the students, generally and specifically in humanistic education.

To ensure that all duties are carried out professionally, ethically and in a timely manner.

To undertake any other tasks as directed by the Superior/Management as and when required.

Job Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least a Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Qualification/Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree in Music, Music Education, Education, Teaching & Training or equivalent.
• A minimum of 3 years of teaching or tutoring experience in Music, preferably at Primary level.
• Ability to play and teach one or more musical instruments, with good knowledge of music theory and practical music.
• Experience in organising or supporting school performances, concerts or musical activities will be an added advantage.
• Strong commitment and a passionate educator with high levels of professionalism and care for children.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fluency in multiple languages, proficiency in delivering presentations, computer literacy, and the ability to operate basic ICT devices.

Position is to be based in Ipoh, Perak.
