JOB PURPOSE
The English & Humanities Teacher must work to ensure the Middle and Senior Schools are where quality programs and facilities are available for all students within its care. A teacher demonstrates initiative, leadership, flexibility, creativity and work ethic.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide an exemplary student-centred, ICT rich learning experience for students in your care.
Plan, program and deliver high quality teaching and learning activities that are designed to meet the diverse needs within any class.
Maintain a safe and secure educational environment meeting appropriate standards of behaviour.
Assess and report in line with School expectations.
Undertake tasks associated with the ongoing development of the School’s curriculum.
Develop productive and respectful relationships with parents and colleagues to ensure effective learning for students at the School.
Participate in professional growth.
Contribute to the provision of a rich and diverse co-curricular experience for students in the School.
Consistently demonstrate the characteristics of an ‘Inspired and Passionate AISM teacher’.
Other duties as directed by the Principal or Head of School.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Ability to contribute positively to the School’s goals that are aligned to the values, purpose, mission and strategic priorities of the organisation.
Willingness to work collaboratively with Grade, Section and Faculty colleagues.
Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work and resources effectively to meet all departmental and organisational objectives.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders to meet mutual goals and objectives.
Ability and willingness to contribute to the marketing activities of the School as required.
Willingness to contribute time outside of normal school hours in the provision of co-curricular activities, camps and events.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Experienced in and able to teach English and inter-disciplinary Humanities classes. An ability to also teach senior History classes is not required, but would be an asset.
Proven skills in designing, implementing and evaluating differentiated and inspirational learning experiences for students.
Proven skills in using ICT to improve student engagement and learning.
Knowledge and experience applying the principles of Visible Learning would be highly regarded.
Expertise and experience leading/coaching sports or co-curricular activities.
Spoken and written English is used for all school communications and as such a high standard of English communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening is required to be successful in this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or Degree in Speciality plus Diploma of Education.
Current Teacher Registration in home country, including relevant Police Checks.
