Job summary

Monkey's Canopy Resort is seeking a dedicated HSSE professional to lead inspections, investigations and safety governance across our resort operations in Malaysia. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in OSH or related fields and at least two years of HSSE experience, preferably in hospitality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in OSH, environmental health, safety engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of HSSE experience, preferably in hospitality, hotel, resort or property.
• Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH/JKKP is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of OSH requirements and Malaysian regulations.
• Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular HSSE inspections and ensure compliance with health, security, safety, environmental and resort regulatory requirements.
• Prepare, maintain and analyze HSSE inspection records, incident reports and safety performance data.
• Lead investigations into safety incidents, accidents, near misses and safety breaches; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop, implement, review and improve HSSE policies, procedures, plans and safety management systems.
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments and risk mitigation activities to strengthen safety.
• Coordinate with regulators, authorities, contractors and internal departments on HSSE inspections and reporting.
• Provide technical advice to Management on HSSE governance, risk, compliance and safety performance.
• Coordinate safety audits, emergency preparedness, business continuity and improvement activities.
• Promote a positive safety culture through awareness, coaching and cross-department collaboration.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Job description

• Conduct regular workplace and site inspections to ensure compliance with health, security, safety, environmental (HSSE), and resort regulatory requirements;
• Prepare, maintain, and analyze HSSE inspection records, incident reports, safety performance data, and management statistics;
• Lead investigations into safety incidents, accidents, near misses, property damage, and safety breaches, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions;
• Develop, implement, review, and continuously improve HSSE policies, procedures, plans, and safety management systems;
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and risk mitigation activities to strengthen operational safety and organizational resilience;
• Monitor compliance with applicable occupational safety, environmental, and statutory requirements, ensuring timely corrective actions;
• Coordinate with regulatory authorities, external agencies, contractors, and internal departments on HSSE inspections, audits, compliance matters, and regulatory reporting;
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to Management on HSSE governance, risk management, compliance, and safety performance;
• Coordinate safety audits, emergency preparedness programmes, business continuity initiatives, and continuous improvement activities across the organization;
• Promote a positive safety culture through awareness programmes, coaching, communication, and collaboration with all departments to enhance HSSE performance;
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management.

Job Specification

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline;
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in HSSE, preferably within the hospitality, hotel, resort, or property industry;
• Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH/JKKP will be an added advantage;
• Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements and relevant Malaysian regulations;
• Good understanding of risk assessment, incident investigation, emergency response, and fire safety procedures;
• Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and reporting skills;
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
• Able to conduct safety briefings, inspections, and training programmes;
• Responsible, proactive, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious;
• Able to work independently and coordinate effectively with different departments;
• Willing to work weekends, public holidays, and outside normal working hours when required.
