Job summary

Cofreth is hiring a Safety Officer to support the implementation and maintenance of an Occupational Safety and Health Management System across facilities. The role ensures compliance with OSHA 1994, regulations, and local statutory requirements for building operations, contractors, and service providers.

You will lead HIRARC activities, conduct hygiene inspections, and enforce PTW and ERP frameworks, while advising management on risk and necessary controls.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in any discipline.
  • Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH/JKKP.
  • Good knowledge of OSHA 1994 and Malaysian safety regulations.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in safety and health roles.
  • Able to work independently with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective Occupational Safety and Health Management System for facilities management.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, regulations and other statutory requirements.
  • Advise management on safety obligations, risk exposure and control measures for various buildings.
  • Conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) for operations and tenant activities.
  • Carry out hygiene inspections and monitor corrective actions to meet OSH requirements.
  • Perform workplace and facility inspections to identify unsafe conditions and non-compliance.
  • Monitor safety performance of employees, tenants, contractors and service providers.
  • Manage Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems for high-risk activities and electrical/mechanical works.
  • Ensure PPE is provided, used, and maintained by all parties.
  • Develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for high-occupancy environments.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near-misses and prepare CAPA reports.

Job description

Assist the Employer in implementing and maintaining an effective Occupational Safety and Health Management System for facilities management operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, applicable regulations, and other relevant statutory requirements, including safety risks related to building operations, maintenance, contractors, and service providers.

Key responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, health, and environmental legal requirements, including DOSH/JKKP, Bomba, CIDB, Ministry of Health and local authority regulations
  • Advise management on occupational safety and health matters, legal obligations, risk exposure and necessary control measures for high-rise, mall, industrial and mixed-use buildings
  • Conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) for facility operations, tenant activities, contractor works and industrial processes where applicable
  • Conduct regular hygiene inspections of the workplace and facilities, identify potential health and hygiene hazards, recommend corrective actions, and monitor follow-up to ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian OSH requirements
  • Carry out regular workplace, facility and common-area inspections to identify unsafe conditions, acts and non-compliance with safety standards
  • Monitor safety performance of employees, tenants, contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with safe work practices
  • Manage and enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems for high-risk activities, confined space entry, hot work and electrical or mechanical works
  • Ensure appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is identified, provided, used and maintained by all relevant parties
  • Develop, implement and maintain Emergency Response Plans (ERP) suitable for high-occupancy, industrial and mixed-use environments
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near-misses, dangerous occurrences and public safety incidents and prepare investigation reports with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
About you
  • Degree or Diploma in any disciplines
  • Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH/JKKP
  • Good knowledge of OSHA 1994 and Malaysian safety regulations
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in safety and health roles
  • Able to work independently with good communication skills
