Job summary

Holiday Villa Resort & Beachclub Langkawi is seeking a detail-oriented Housekeeping Attendant to maintain guest rooms and public areas to the hotel's standards.

You will assist guests, stock rooms, handle laundry, and ensure corridors, windows and fixtures are clean. Daily tasks include collecting laundry, replacing linen, and reporting maintenance needs to supervisors, with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel housekeeping preferred.
• Ability to follow standards and instructions.
• Good communication with supervisors and guests.

Responsibilities

• Attend daily briefing and follow Housekeeping Manager's instructions.
• Assist guests and respond to requests promptly.

• Attends daily briefing and receives further instruction from Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager.
• To carry out any other ad hoc duties as assigned from time to time. Failure to comply may be considered an act of insubordination.
• Give assistance to guest whenever necessary.
• Reports to the office for daily assignments, collect keys, cleaning supplies and proceed to assigned areas to carry out work.
• If assigned to clean rooms check that trolleys are properly packed with linen, stationery and equipment before starting. Clean corridor and ashtray stand.
• Removes all room service trays and service equipment used for food and beverage services from the guestrooms and bring them to service area for collection by guest service agents from the Food & Beverage Department.
• Cleans and make arrangement of guestrooms and bathrooms in accordance with standards and instructions laid down thereof.
• Collect all guest laundry from the rooms. Ensure that room number and laundry list is filled up. Check laundry for damage and keep proper recording of items for billing purposes.
• Return guest laundry to the individual rooms.
• Check and control damaged linen for return to the linen room.
• Check electrical lighting in the guestrooms and control the replacement of fused light bulbs. Reports damage and missing items.
• Hand over to Housekeeper all articles and guest property found inside guestrooms after checking out.
• Make and turn down beds according to standard set.
• Control proper usage of cleaning equipment, chemicals and material.
• Keep in an orderly manner all equipment, material and linen cupboards on each floor.
• Report to the Housekeeping Supervisor – Floor any defects with regards to décor, equipment, fixtures and fittings found in his/her area of responsibility.
• Empty and wash ashtrays but never throw cigarette butts and used soap into toilet bowls.
• Clean glass windows.
• Clean the corridor in assigned area, ashtray stands and dust walls and windows along the corridor. Public staircase must also be kept clean.
• Take all rubbish bags to the rubbish dump.
• Clean and tidy up trolleys, stack up linen and stationery for the next day.
• Passed used cleaning cloth to laundry for washing and collect clean ones. Empty vacuum cleaner daily and make sure it is clean.
• If assigned to clean public areas make sure that cleaning chemicals and equipment required to clean assigned area is available. Do not misuse or waste chemicals.
• Handle equipment used in the proper manner.
• Check assigned area after cleaning to ensure that the job is done well.
• Prepare all cleaning and general supplies for rest room facilities in accordance with standard set by the hotel.
• Report to the Housekeeping Supervisor – Floor of maintenance faults and defects.
• Report to the Housekeeping Supervisor – Floor of facilities damaged by vandals.
• Send to the office for recording all lost and found articles found in the public area.
• Check and clean all equipment used. Store all equipment and chemicals properly.
