Job summary

Fairfield Inn & Suites in Sabah, Malaysia is seeking a maintenance technician to respond to guest repair requests and perform preventive maintenance on building systems. You will communicate with guests to resolve issues, inspect equipment, and carry out repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry tasks.

The role emphasizes following safety procedures, using Lockout/Tagout when needed, maintaining inventory, and supporting housekeeping with repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus.
• No supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Respond and attend to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, equipment and building systems.
• Inspect and service electrical, plumbing, HVAC and lighting components.
• Carry equipment and operate shut-offs and safety devices.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts when needed.
• Document daily activities and issues to other shifts using standard methods.
• Follow safety policies and lockout/tagout procedures during work.
• Assist with painting, drywall touch-ups, and general repairs as required.
