Job summary

Stella Kasih Healthcare Sdn Bhd is seeking dedicated care assistants to support patients with daily living activities in a hospital environment. You will assist with hygiene, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility while monitoring vital signs and reporting changes to nurses.

The role emphasizes compassion, teamwork, and adherence to care protocols. Experience in a hospital setting is advantageous, and candidates must be prepared for challenging shifts.

Qualifications

• SPM or equivalent qualifications required.
• Certificate in Basic Care for Healthcare preferred.
• Hospital experience is an advantage.
• Able to work in a challenging environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, grooming, and oral care.
• Help patients with dressing and undressing.
• Assist patients with toileting needs and use of bedpans / urinals.
• Provide skin care and pressure sore prevention through turning and repositioning.
• Assist with feeding and ensure adequate hydration (excluding tube feeding).
• Respond promptly to call bells and report needs to the nurse.
• Safely assist with ambulation and transfers using proper body mechanics.
• Measure and record vital signs accurately.
• Monitor and record patient intake and output.
• Observe or report changes in condition to the supervising nurse immediately.
• Report faulty equipment or instruments to the registered nurse.

Job description

Duties

1. Assist patients with personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, grooming (hair and nail care), and oral hygiene.
2. Help patients with dressing and undressing.
3. Assist patients with toileting needs, including the use of bedpans, urinals, and assisting to the toilet.
4. Provide skin care and pressure sore prevention (e.g., turning and repositioning patients, performing back care).
5. Assist with feeding patients, ensuring they receive appropriate meals and adequate hydration (excluding tube feeding).
6. Respond promptly to patient call bells and inquiries, determining their needs and reporting to the nurse as necessary.
7. Safely assist patients with ambulation (walking), transferring them in and out of bed, to wheelchairs, and to trolleys, ensuring correct body mechanics.
8. Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) accurately.
9. Monitor and record patient intake and output (fluid balance).
10. Observe and report any changes in the patient's condition, behavior, or discomfort immediately to the supervising nurse.
11. Report any faulty equipment or instruments to the registered nurse.

Qualifications / Requirements

1. Minimum Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent.
2. Preferable with Certificate in Basic Care for Healthcare.
3. Experience working in hospital setting is an advantage.
4. Able to work in challenging and vibrant environment.
