Funding Societies | Modalku seeks a seasoned leader for Data Analytics and Data Science to shape strategy, build a high-performing team, and drive data-driven solutions across the organisation. You will oversee end-to-end data processes and alignment with business goals.

The role requires 10+ years in data analytics with leadership exposure, fintech domain experience, and strong communication with stakeholders across functions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data analytics or data science with 2+ years in leadership.
• Experience in Financial Services/Fintech and SME credit risk preferred.
• Proficient in SQL and Python or R; experienced with data visualization tools.
• Ability to translate data insights into actionable business strategies and influence stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Strong problem solving and prioritisation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Define data strategy and translate priorities into an actionable plan that drives data maturity and business growth.
• Lead and mentor the Data Analytics and Data Science leads and their teams.
• Partner with Data Engineering, Product, Marketing, Sales, Risk and Finance to drive data-driven initiatives.
• Identify opportunities where analytics can influence key business metrics and establish governance.
• Adopt new tools and methods to keep analytics capabilities current and scalable.
• Oversee data governance and compliance across markets.

Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and strong leader in Data Analytics and Data Science to lead the strategy, development, and implementation of data-driven solutions across the organisation. You will oversee and manage the end-to-end process, from data collection and analysis through solution deployment and business integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Strategy & Vision: Understand key company priorities and translate them into an actionable data strategy that drives data maturity across the organisation, enabling business growth, improved risk management, and enhanced customer experiences
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the Data Analytics and Data Science domain leads and their respective reportees to build a high-performing data team
• Stakeholder Influence: Partner with cross-functional teams such as Data Engineering, Product, Marketing, Sales, Risk, and Finance to drive data-driven initiatives, align on objectives, and ensure effective execution
• Data-Driven Business Impact: Initiate new opportunities and continue existing projects where data can deliver analytics recommendations that drive key business metrics, and develop the processes and frameworks to enable this
• Capability & Tooling Uplift: Identify and adopt new tools and methods that keep the team's analytics and reporting capabilities current
• Risk & Data Governance Oversight: Ensure data practices and reporting meet internal and regulatory standards across markets

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Experience in Financial Services, Fintech, and/or Tech companies, with domain exposure to SME credit risk, is preferred
• Proven experience leading and managing teams in a fast-paced, high-growth company or fintech environment
• Proficient in SQL, Python or R, and data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik). Experience selecting and implementing analytics and data science tooling is preferred
• Ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies and influence stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting insights to non-technical stakeholders and influencing strategic decisions
• Strong, structured problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Strong prioritisation abilities according to business needs and constraints
