Job summary

Mahkota Medical Centre Sdn Bhd is seeking an Head Nurse, Operating Theatre (OT) to provide clinical leadership and drive organized, high-quality perioperative nursing care. You will supervise staff, oversee patient flow, and ensure safe handovers across the department.

The role requires a Diploma in Nursing with a valid practicing certificate, plus post-basic perioperative qualifications and a minimum of 8 years in nursing, including OT supervision.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid annual practicing certificate and nursing qualifications.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and organize patient care in the OT.
• Supervise perioperative nursing care and mentor staff daily.
• Ensure safe patient transfers to/from wards with proper handover.
• Manage OT resources, including rooms, equipment and personnel.
• Lead department meetings, audits and OT improvement activities.
• Address complaints and implement action plans to achieve outcomes.

The Head Nurse, Operating Theatre (OT) takes full responsibility for the clinical leadership, resource management and organization of the patient care provision within the Operating Theatre and act as following:

General roles:

To stand committed in up-holding of hospital and department’s vision, mission, philosophy, objectives and values.

To cooperate with the team in smooth administration / running OT department in provision of high quality, cost effective and safe nursing services.

To utilize evidence-based nursing knowledge and professional nursing judgment to assess health needs, provide nursing care, educate client and support individuals to manage their health holistically.

To provides clinical supervision on a day-to-day basis to all team members and acting as a mentor or assessor.

To supervise the implementation of perioperative nursing care.

To ensure the transfer patient to and from of the ward in safe manner with complete handover.

To ensure available of all resources such as time, Operating Rooms, patient flow, equipment, personnel are managed effectively across the department.

To perform specific roles in managing and providing patient centered care according to the units that each head nurses are allocated within the nursing services.

To assist the nursing manager in the running efficiently administration of the nursing department.

To provide proficient and appropriate nursing care by applying advanced nursing knowledge and skills, and for ensuring the comfort and safety of patients in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements, hospital and departmental policies and procedures and also established standards of nursing care and practice.

To conduct department meeting, audit and to lead OT improvement activities.

To handle customer/ RMP complaints and provide solution and monitor action plan and achieve desired outcomes.

Job Requirement:

Minimum Diploma in Nursing with valid annual practicing certificate.

Post Basic Certificate / Diploma in Perioperative Nursing Care.

Preferably with Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Business Administration.

Minimum 8 years of working experiences, preferably with minimum of 3 years in OT supervisory position.

Possesses Management, coaching and leadership skills.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook and access program.
