Job summary

Emerson Malaysia is seeking a hardware design engineer to research and propose alternate parts, implement and simulate designs using CAD tools such as Mentor Graphics, and verify redesigns through VnV and MFG validation.

You will lead RCA analyses, create debug guides, mentor junior engineers, document progress, and collaborate with manufacturing to improve yield and product quality while sharing solutions with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Fresh graduates with electrical or computer engineering degrees.
• Strong analog design knowledge including op-amps, filters, and transistors.
• Knowledge of ADC/DAC, power supply design, and analog testing techniques.
• Understanding of signal integrity, layout, and grounding; basic digital design.
• Proficient English communication for technical discussions.
• Ability to diagnose problems and propose practical solutions.
• Ownership mindset and drive to complete tasks on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Research and propose alternative parts to avoid EOL parts.

• Apply failure analysis to root cause issues during early VnV and MFG builds.
• Integrate DFM inputs from MFG to improve yield and quality.

• Create debug guides/tools and train MFG techs and Failure Analysis engineers.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design/documentation.
• Lead the team to develop product and design documentation.
• Create debug tools and training materials for MFG during product release.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Research and propose alternative parts with effective solutions in consideration of avoiding major software & product calibration, hardware topology changes to replace EOL parts in NI products.
• Implement and simulate designs through CAD and synthesis tools. i.e. Mentor Graphics.
• Verify and validate designs of hardware re-designs. Debug any issues that may arise.
• Have good knowledge in failure analysis to root cause failures during early VnV and MFG builds.
• Integrate DFM inputs from MFG to improve product yield & quality
• Diagnose and debug technical challenges with products or problems arising when your products interact or integrate with other NI products
• Proactive in doing mock-up design as POC (Proof of Concept) to strengthen re-design proposal to get final approval from domain leaders.
• RCA know how. Able to come up fish bone diagram to list possible root cause and narrow down to actual root cause.
• Provide technical expertise and training to Applications Engineers, customers, or any other person as required for others using and supporting your productsProperly document failure / project progress and share with stake holders by sharing short and long term design solutions.
• Create proper debug guides, debug tools and provide training to MFG techs and Failure Analysis engineers
• Mentor junior engineers and share your expertise/technical knowledge and advise others on computer and electrical engineering technologies and circuit design.
• Lead the team to develop product and design documentation.
• Create debug tool and training material for MFG during product release

For This Role, You Will Need:

• B.Eng/M.Eng/BS/MS in electrical engineering or computer engineering - Fresh graduates.
• Strong knowledge of analog design principles including designs using operational amplifiers, filters, and transistors
• Strong knowledge of and experience in: analog to digital and digital to analog converters; power supply components and design; analog testing/troubleshooting techniques; signal integrity, layout, and grounding principles; basic digital design fundamentals
• Passion for learning about and working with analog, digital, & other computer technologies
• Strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
• English Language Competency and effective communication skills - Can clearly and concisely communicate in English, so that persons you work with can understand you clearly, particularly in technical conversations
