Job summary

ModeFair is seeking a hands-on Cybersecurity Engineer (SOC) for our Kuala Lumpur office. You will work directly with the CTO to build and run security monitoring, detection and response, on-site with no remote option.

The role is new and you will be the first and only person in it, leveraging Claude Code and other AI agents to assist with monitoring, alert triage, investigation and reporting. You will implement detection, hardening and incident handling across cloud and on-prem environments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on SOC engineer with 2+ years in security operations.
• Experience building or tuning SIEM/EDR, writing detection rules.
• Ability to use AI tools daily in security workflows.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, tune and maintain centralized logging / SIEM / EDR and write detection rules.
• Perform real alert triage and incident handling; support first-line response.
• Harden servers, endpoints and cloud environments (AWS / Huawei Cloud).
• Own incident containment, evidence notes and recovery with CTO.
• Develop runbooks for common alerts and assist BCM/DR playbooks.
