Job summary

S-RM Intelligence and Risk Consulting seeks a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant (SOC) in Malaysia to lead security operations, incident response, and threat monitoring for our APAC clients. You will leverage SIEM, SOAR, EDR and other tools and mentor a Kuala Lumpur SOC team in a hybrid role with some in-office collaboration.

The role requires 3+ years in SOC, strong leadership, customer-focused communication, and a proactive, investigative mindset to improve detection, response and risk posture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in cybersecurity, computer science or related field.
• Relevant industry certifications advantageous (e.g., Blue Team, CISSP, Security+).
• 3+ years in a SOC or cybersecurity operations role with leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of EDR and SecOps toolsets for incident detection and response.
• Proven line management experience within a SOC; coaching and developing analysts.
• Customer-focused with ability to discuss cybersecurity with clients.
• Investigative mindset and curiosity; reliable and dependable.
• Knowledge of cyber threat actors and detection techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to present findings to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead SOC analysis and incident response for managed services.
• Mentor junior analysts and manage the Kuala Lumpur SOC team.
• Monitor events from SIEM/EDR and respond to threats.
• Conduct investigations and containment/remediation of incidents.
• Tune detection rules and automate workflows to improve detection.
• Analyze logs from firewalls and endpoints for complex incidents.
• Document incidents with timelines, analysis, and lessons learned.
• Support onboarding and delivery for APAC MDR clients.
• Collaborate with global teams to integrate SOC operations.
