The role oversees strategy, business development, and project acquisition across private, industrial, utility, and selected public-sector clients.

The candidate will reposition the business from a legacy irrigation focus to a broader water and utility engineering solution provider, implement a three-year growth plan, and ensure revenue

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in engineering, water, wastewater, utilities, or EPC environments.
• Proven track record of originating and winning projects.
• Experience leading a P&L, business unit, division, or commercial platform.
• Strong commercial judgement in tendering, pricing, and contract negotiation.
• Ability to drive turnaround, growth, and market expansion.
• Experience expanding into adjacent market sectors.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall commercial strategy, business development, and project acquisition for the engineering platform.
• Personally originate, structure, price, and secure new projects across private, industrial, utility, and public-sector clients.
• Reposition the business from a legacy irrigation focus into broader water and utility engineering solutions.
• Develop and execute a three-year growth roadmap with priority sectors and revenue mix.
• Build and maintain a robust project pipeline with disciplined bid selection and margin control.
• Strengthen tender governance, pricing discipline, contract negotiation, claims management, and collections.
• Review and improve margins, overheads, working capital, and resource utilisation.
• Expand into adjacent sectors such as plumbing, drainage, industrial water, and wastewater.
• Grow recurring revenue through maintenance, retrofit, upgrade, and service offerings.
• Establish KPIs, management cadence, and reporting for performance.
