Job summary

Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad in Kuala Lumpur seeks a qualified Legal Counsel to draft and review documents and contracts, liaise with internal stakeholders and external lawyers, and support compliance matters including PDPA and the Companies Act.

The ideal candidate holds an LLB (Hons) from a reputable university, is preferably called to the Malaysian Bar, with at least 3 years of relevant experience and strong drafting, communication, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Candidate preferably called to the Malaysian Bar.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of Personal Data Protection Act and Companies Act an advantage.
• Strong drafting, interpersonal and communication skills.
• High integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Draft and review documents and contracts.
• Maintain good rapport with internal customers and management.
• Liaise with external lawyers on legal matters including litigation and corporate matters.
• Identify compliance issues under PDPA and related laws.
• Assist in other legal matters as they arise.
• Coordinate with external parties and internal stakeholders.
• Support superiors as part of the team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Drafting and reviewing of documents and contracts.
• Working closely with and maintaining good rapport with internal customers and management.
• Liaising with external lawyers on all legal matters including but not limited to litigation, intellectual property rights, conveyancing/property, corporate, contract related matters.
• Identifying compliance issues for e.g. Personal Data Protection Act etc.
• Generally assisting in attending to legal issues that may arise from time to time.
• Communicate and work with external parties and internal stakeholders on files assigned.
• Work together as a team and support the superiors.

What We’re Looking For:

• Candidates must have at least a LLB (Hons) from a reputable university and preferably called to the Malaysian Bar.
• Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of working experience in the related field.
• Knowledge and experience in compliance issues under the Personal Data Protection Act,
• Companies Act, etc would be an added advantage
• Good interpersonal, communication and drafting skills and willingness to take on new assignments.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
• High computer proficiency and good command in Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
