Job summary

Russell Ingredients Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Food Scientist to support development, testing, and continuous improvement of green tea-based beverages for international markets. The role combines hands-on formulation with quality validation and regulatory alignment across ASEAN, GCC, US and EU.

You will work with production partners to scale from lab to manufacturing, maintain specs and SOPs, and stay ahead of clean-label trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field
• 3–6 years of experience in food or beverage product development
• Hands-on experience with formulation and testing of beverages or liquid food products
• Strong understanding of shelf-life studies, microbiological considerations, and stability testing
• Familiarity with ingredient functionality (sweeteners, stabilizers, flavor systems)
• Ability to translate R&D work into scalable manufacturing processes
• Strong documentation and analytical skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct formulation, testing, and optimization of green tea and matcha-based beverage products (e.g., syrups, concentrates, RTD concepts)
• Evaluate and improve existing products for stability, taste profile, shelf life, and scalability
• Design and execute laboratory and pilot-scale trials, including sensory and stability testing
• Adapt formulations to meet regulatory and ingredient requirements across multiple markets
• Collaborate with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure ingredient and labeling alignment
• Work closely with production partners to scale formulations from lab to manufacturing
• Develop and maintain product specifications, SOPs, and quality documentation
• Conduct ingredient research, including sourcing alternatives and functional improvements
• Support troubleshooting of production or quality issues
• Maintain awareness of global trends in tea, functional beverages, and clean-label products
