Earth Science Analytics, a leading IMDEX brand in Kuala Lumpur, seeks an experienced Geo-Data Scientist to bridge geoscience and data science. You’ll apply EarthNET to real-world subsurface challenges, collaborate with customers, and guide AI-assisted projects from concept to delivery.

The role demands strong oil and gas geoscience knowledge, hands-on ML-driven workflows, and the ability to communicate complex results in clear business terms.

Competenze

• Degree in geosciences, data science, petroleum engineering or related field.
• Around 7 years of industry experience across geoscience, petrophysics, seismic interpretation or subsurface data science.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian sedimentary basins and ability to work with customer projects.

We’re looking for an experienced Geo-Data Scientist to join Earth Science Analytics, a leading brand of IMDEX in Kuala Lumpur, working at the intersection of oil & gas geoscience, data science and machine learning.

You’ll work directly with customers, applying EarthNET to real-world subsurface challenges, supporting AI-assisted geoscience projects and turning complex geological, geophysical and petrophysical data into insights that matter. If you understand Malaysian sedimentary basins, have hands‑on experience with machine learning‑assisted subsurface interpretation, and enjoy solving technical challenges with customers, this could be an exciting next step.

What you’ll get involved in

This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role where you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Apply geoscience, data science and machine learning to real‑world subsurface challenges.
• Deliver, configure and optimise EarthNET solutions for customer projects and workflows.
• Work directly with customers to understand their challenges and turn complex technical results into clear, actionable insights.
• Support AI-assisted geoscience projects, proof‑of‑concept work and ad hoc data analysis.
• Work across geological, geophysical, petrophysical and other subsurface data.
• Deliver engaging EarthNET demonstrations to prospective customers.
• Bring the voice of the customer back to our product and development teams, helping us continuously improve EarthNET.
• Share your expertise and mentor less experienced colleagues.
• Travel to customer sites when hands‑on technical support is required.

You’ll also collaborate with colleagues in Kuala Lumpur and Norway, bringing together technical, commercial and customer perspectives.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who combines strong oil & gas geoscience expertise with curiosity, practical problem‑solving and the confidence to engage directly with customers.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• A degree in geosciences, data science, petroleum engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Around 7 years of relevant industry experience across geoscience, petrophysics, seismic interpretation or subsurface data science, preferably within oil & gas.
• Strong geological knowledge of Malaysian sedimentary basins, backed by relevant project or industry experience.
• Hands‑on experience applying machine learning‑assisted subsurface interpretation or data‑driven workflows to real projects.
• The ability to independently manage client deliverables and technical projects.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to turn technical complexity into meaningful insights.
• Strong communication skills and professional proficiency in English.
• The willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as required.

Even better if you bring experience in

• Seismic quantitative interpretation (QI)
• Integrated geological, geophysical and well/petrophysical workflows
• Machine learning or data analytics projects for operators or service companies
• Coding or scripting for geoscience data analysisIndustry‑standard geoscience software
• Cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
• Customer‑facing software or technical solution support
• Sedimentary basins across the wider Asia‑Pacific region
• Malay/Bahasa or other languages relevant to the Asia‑Pacific region
