Job summary

Tambadana is seeking a General Manager to lead Jombanding, a new financial literacy and product comparison platform in Malaysia. You will own strategy, P&L and revenue, shape the business, recruit a lean team and build strategic partnerships with banks and fintechs to drive growth and user engagement.

You will lead content, product development and a trusted consumer journey, ensuring compliance and transparent monetisation while scaling the audience and brand in Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially driven General Manager to lead and build Jombanding, a new financial literacy and financial aggregation platform for Malaysian consumers.

Jombanding is designed to help Malaysians better understand money, credit, debt, savings and everyday financial decisions, while also enabling consumers to discover and compare suitable financial products from trusted providers.

As the General Manager, you will be the end-to-end owner of the business, responsible for turning the platform's vision into a trusted consumer brand and sustainable revenue-generating business.

This is a builder's role. You will have the autonomy to shape the strategy, build the team, develop partnerships, grow the audience and drive the commercial direction of the platform.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Business & P&L

• Own the overall strategy, business plan and P&L of Jombanding.

• Develop and execute the platform's revenue and monetisation strategy.

• Set business targets, KPIs, budgets and growth plans.

• Monitor financial performance and ensure sustainable revenue growth.

• Report business performance, opportunities and risks to the Group CEO.

Product & Content

• Lead the development of the Jombanding platform, including financial guides, articles, tools, calculators and product comparison features.

• Develop a strong content strategy and editorial calendar.

• Ensure content is accurate, clear, practical and genuinely useful to consumers.

• Build a seamless and trustworthy journey from financial education to financial product discovery.

• Work with internal teams and external partners to improve the platform and user experience.

Partnerships & Business Development

• Build strategic partnerships with banks, lenders, insurers, fintech companies and other financial service providers.

• Identify and onboard suitable financial products and partners.

• Lead commercial negotiations, referral arrangements and partnership terms.

• Manage partner relationships and monitor lead quality, conversion and revenue performance.

Growth & Marketing

• Develop and execute strategies to grow the Jombanding audience.

• Drive traffic, engagement, retention and repeat usage through content, SEO, social media, partnerships and digital marketing.

• Build a strong and trusted Jombanding brand within Malaysia.

• Develop and grow an engaged financial education community.

• Use data and analytics to measure and optimise growth initiatives.

Operations, Compliance & Governance

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of Jombanding.

• Establish effective processes across content, product, marketing and partnerships.

• Ensure appropriate compliance with PDPA and applicable Malaysian content, advertising and financial services requirements.

• Maintain transparency around commercial partnerships and how the platform generates revenue.

• Ensure the platform remains focused on education and transparent comparison and does not cross into regulated financial advice.

Team Leadership

• Build and lead a lean, high-performing team as the business grows.

• Recruit and develop key talent across content, product, marketing and partnerships.

• Utilise external agencies, freelancers and specialist contributors where appropriate.

• Establish a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation and execution.

What We Are Looking For

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Digital or a related field.

• 8+ years of relevant experience, with experience in a leadership, business ownership or general management role.

• Proven experience managing a product, platform, publication, digital business or programme end-to-end.

• Strong commercial understanding with experience managing budgets, business plans and/or P&L.

• Strong track record in business development and strategic partnerships.

• Experience working with banks, fintechs, lenders, insurers or other financial service providers will be highly advantageous.

• Strong understanding of digital products, content, audience growth and consumer engagement.

• Excellent communication, writing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.

• Comfortable working independently with a high level of autonomy.

• Strong entrepreneurial mindset and ability to build something from the ground up.

• Genuine interest in financial literacy and consumer financial wellbeing.

Advantageous

• Experience in financial services, fintech, digital media, publishing, EdTech, consumer digital products or financial comparison platforms.

• Understanding of the Malaysian financial services and regulatory environment.

• Experience building a digital audience or community from an early stage.

• Existing network within Malaysian banks, lenders, insurers or fintech companies.

• Fluency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

• Establish and execute a clear Jombanding business strategy.

• Build a functioning content and editorial engine.

• Grow the platform's audience and engagement from an agreed baseline.

• Establish initial partnerships with financial product providers.

• Demonstrate early commercial traction and a clear path toward sustainable revenue.

• Establish appropriate operating and governance processes.

• Build a lean and capable team or contributor network.

• Introduce practical measures to demonstrate whether users are gaining better financial understanding and making better financial decisions.
