Job summary

Mywisehome Sdn Bhd in Kamunting, Perak, invites a skilled General Ledger Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time basis. You will maintain accurate general ledger records, process journal entries, and support month-end and year-end closing with strict adherence to accounting standards.

You should have 2-3 years of general ledger experience, solid Excel skills, knowledge of GAAP, and the ability to work precisely and collaboratively in a warehousing and logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of general ledger accounting experience.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to handle complex spreadsheets.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and local financial reporting standards.
• Excellent numerical accuracy and data integrity.
• Proficient in English and local language; good communication.
• Professional accounting qualification (AAT/ACCA/LCCI) desirable.
• Experience in warehousing, distribution or logistics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the general ledger with accuracy and proper categorisation.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts regularly to identify discrepancies.
• Process and verify journal entries in line with accounting standards.
• Prepare account reconciliations for month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and supporting documentation.
• Review and code invoices for correct ledger allocation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting errors promptly.
• Maintain audit trails and compliant documentation.
• Collaborate with finance team and other departments.
• Support implementation of internal controls and audit requirements.

About the Role

We are seeking a General Ledger Account specialist to join our finance team on a full-time basis at our facility in Kamunting, Perak. This is a critical role within our financial operations, responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive general ledger records that form the backbone of our financial reporting and compliance framework. You will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity of our financial data and supporting informed business decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining and updating the general ledger with accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and categorised
• Reconciling general ledger accounts on a regular basis to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Processing and verifying journal entries, ensuring they comply with accounting standards and company policies
• Preparing and analysing account reconciliations to support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes
• Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting
• Reviewing and coding invoices and supporting documents for appropriate ledger account allocation
• Investigating and resolving accounting errors or inconsistencies in a timely manner
• Maintaining organised records and documentation for audit trails and compliance purposes
• Collaborating with other finance team members and departments to ensure seamless financial operations
• Supporting the implementation and adherence to financial controls and internal audit requirements

What We’re Looking For

• A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in general ledger accounting or a similar accounting role
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work with complex spreadsheets and databases
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP) and local financial reporting standards
• Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining data integrity
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
• Proficiency in English and the local language, both written and verbal
• A professional qualification such as an AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) diploma, ACCA or LCCI accounting qualification is highly desirable
• Experience in the warehousing, distribution or logistics sector would be advantageous
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Reliability, integrity and a proactive approach to problem-solving
