Job description

Location: Mid Valley, Johor Bahru

A General Ledger (GL) Accountant with audit experience will manage the company's general ledger, prepare financial statements, and ensure regulatory compliance, leveraging their audit experience to improve internal controls and support auditors. Key responsibilities include transaction reconciliation, account analysis, financial reporting, and providing accounting support.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Record, classify, and reconcile all financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Create and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure financial records comply with regulatory standards and that accounting procedures are followed.
• Collaborate with and support both internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and insights.
• Analyse financial data to provide insights, support budgeting and forecasting, and identify trends.

Authorities

• Authorize balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of accounts
• Lead and authorize month-end and year-end closing activities
• Review and approve financial reports for management and statutory purposes
• Implement and enforce internal controls over GL transactions
• Recommend process improvements and system enhancements for GL operations
• Provide necessary documentation and explanations during internal and external audits

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is generally expected.
• Significant experience as a General Ledger Accountant is essential, particularly with experience in audit firm
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with other departments and auditors.
• Tax knowledge, a fundamental understanding of tax principles or prior experience with tax-related processes.
