Job summary

WE Asia Pte Ltd in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Full Stack Developer to design, deliver, and support cloud applications using containerised, serverless and AI technologies. You will work independently, exercise sound judgement, and contribute to end-to-end customer journeys with AI-enabled features.

Responsibilities include designing and deploying full stack apps on cloud platforms, leading complex issue resolution, ensuring high availability and security, and integrating AI with backend APIs.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in CS or engineering.
• 4+ years building cloud-based apps with Node.js; 2+ years Next.js; 1+ year GenAI/LLM work.
• Experience designing large-scale distributed systems on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Frontend skills with Next.js and Tailwind CSS for responsive UIs.
• Backend with Node.js, REST APIs, server-side logic, and DB integration.
• Experience integrating Generative AI APIs (Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI).
• Understanding prompt engineering, function calls, and conversational context.
• Experience with microservices and serverless (ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Proactive mindset with drive for continuous improvement.

We are seeking for a Full Stack Develoepr who will design, deliver, and support well-architected cloud applications leveraging containerised, serverless and AI technologies, while demonstrating the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement in ambiguous or fast-changing situations

Main Responsibilities

• Participate in designing, developing, and deploying full stack applications on cloud platforms.
• Drive end-to-end development and solution design across multiple project workstreams, while sharing technical and domain knowledge with fellow developers.
• Lead the resolution of complex technical issues, collaborating closely with team members to evaluate options and implement feasible, effective solutions.
• Ensure critical systems maintain high availability and a robust security posture, while adhering to applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Oversee application support activities, including production incident management, root cause analysis, and proactive application performance monitoring.
• Act as one of the gatekeepers for the team's codebase by conducting thorough code reviews and approving pull requests prior to production deployment.
• Engage with business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, provide accurate effort estimations, and propose technical solutions for change requests and unplanned business demands.
• Collaborate with solution architects to contribute design feasibility assessments, surface current system pain points, and evaluate the cost impact of proposed solutions.
• Ensure reliable and consistent application deployments through well-maintained CI/CD pipelines, adhering to release management best practices.
• Maintain a strong application security posture by remediating vulnerabilities, applying the latest security patches, and resolving audit findings in a timely manner.
• Design, develop, and integrate AI/Generative AI capabilities into digital applications, including conversational experiences, LLM integration, tool/function calling, and integration with backend APIs to support end-to-end customer journeys.
• Ensure AI-enabled applications are secure, reliable, and production-ready by implementing appropriate guardrails, data protection, monitoring, error handling, and fallback mechanisms, in accordance with applicable security, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma / Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• More than 4 years of experience developing Cloud based application with Node.js, 2 years of Next.js and more than 1 year of experience in hands-on GenAI/LLM development.
• Proven experience designing and developing large-scale, distributed systems on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, or GCP), with a strong understanding of cloud-native architectural patterns.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies, including frameworks and libraries such as Next.js and Tailwind CSS, with the ability to build responsive, performant user interfaces.
• Solid hands-on experience with back-end development using Node.js, with a strong grasp of RESTful API design, server-side logic, and database integration.
• Experience integrating Generative AI / LLM APIs into web applications, preferably using Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or equivalent.
• Understanding of prompt engineering, structured outputs, function/tool calling and conversational context management.
• Experience integrating AI applications with backend APIs and transactional workflows.
• Experience with microservices architecture and serverless technologies — including AWS ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB — is highly advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deliverables, and deadlines concurrently.
• A proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to drive and champion organisational and technical change, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
