Job summary

SBM Offshore N.V. invites a seasoned Competence Assurance Standard Lead to drive the unit from construction through first oil, coordinating with regional instructors and the training team to ensure readiness and sustained performance.

The role demands deep offshore experience, a strong engineering base, and proficiency with digital competency tools to meet KPI targets and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (offshore core crew).
• Master’s degree is a plus; STCW COC as Chief Engineer or Master Mariner may substitute.
• Minimum 10 years offshore experience with instructor/assessor background, familiarity with competency frameworks and regulations.

Responsibilities

• You ensure that the assigned personnel possess the required behaviours, knowledge and skills during the Operations Readiness phase to execute offshore roles effectively.
• You lever digital tools and methodologies to execute, monitor and implement the Project Competence Assessment Program.
• You oversee the Region 3 Fleet Instructors while they are assigned to your unit and collaborate with the Fleet Training Analyst and Line Manager.
• You prepare weekly reports to monitor progress, ensuring milestone achievements are reached before sail away and before first oil.
