Job summary

Jobstreet Malaysia is seeking an experienced Fitter / Welder to support fabrication, installation, and maintenance at construction and industrial sites. You will work on piping systems, steel structures, and mechanical equipment in challenging environments.

You should have 5+ years welding and fabrication experience, with hands-on GTAW (TIG) and SMAW, ability to read drawings, and good communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Own transport and willingness to travel to sites are required.

Qualifications

• SPM or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or welding-related field.
• Minimum 5 years in welding, piping, fitting, or mechanical fabrication.
• Hands-on GTAW (TIG) and SMAW welding experience.
• Proficient in oxy-cutting, grinding and fitting tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Willing to work on construction/industrial sites with hands-on work.
• Own transport and a valid driving licence.

About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced Fitter / Welder to support fabrication, installation, and maintenance activities involving piping systems, steel structures, and mechanical equipment at construction and industrial sites.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and install piping systems, steel structures, and mechanical components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

• Perform welding using GTAW (TIG) and SMAW processes.

• Carry out cutting, grinding, fitting, and other fabrication works as required.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately.

• Ensure fabrication and installation works are completed according to project requirements and timelines.

• Maintain welding tools, machinery, and equipment in good working condition.

• Identify and report equipment defects or safety issues when required.

• Follow all site safety requirements, including proper PPE usage and safe working practices.

• Work closely with the project and technical teams to ensure smooth completion of site activities.

About you

• SPM or Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding, Metal Fabrication, Tool & Die, or a related field.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in welding, piping, fitting, or mechanical fabrication.

• Hands‑on experience in 6G GTAW (TIG) and SMAW welding.

• Good knowledge of oxy‑cutting, grinding, and fitting work.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

• Able to follow technical specifications and work accurately.

• Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

• Willing to work at construction/industrial sites and perform hands‑on technical work.

• Experience in piping work at construction or industrial sites.

• Own transport and a valid driving licence.
