Job summary

WD’s Petaling Jaya facility in Malaysia is seeking a hands-on Technician to join an Agile R&D environment focused on firmware architecture and test validation for enterprise HDD products. You will work with a globally diverse team to validate drives, manage lab equipment, and troubleshoot issues while complying with shift schedules.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electronic / Electrical or Computer & Telecommunication Engineering with 1–4 years related experience.
• Intellectual curiosity about improving processes and determining root causes.
• Ability to explain problems simply and clearly.
• Good problem-solving skills, including process and root cause analysis.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate, influence, facilitate, and document to multiple audiences.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; willing to support night shift (Mon–Fri).
• You are comfortable in a dynamic, evolving environment and can be a positive teammate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drives and test systems upfront per the validation request.
• Execute and monitor validation tasks within timelines.
• Escalate automation issues to engineers.
• Perform 1st level fault analysis on systems, drives, and equipment; interpret results.
• Update Inventory Tracking System and lab equipment management.
• Execute recovery plans for infrastructure issues.
