Job summary

Western Digital Technologies seeks a technician in Petaling Jaya to contribute to validation and equipment management for next‑gen firmware architectures and test systems.

You will join a global R&D team in an agile environment, collaborating across disciplines, and supporting night shifts; Malaysian eligibility applies. The role is based at the KL COE office and focuses on efficient lab operations and firmware testing.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electronic / Electrical or Computer & Telecommunication Engineering with 1–4 years related experience.
• Intellectual curiosity about improving processes and determining root causes.
• Ability to explain problems simply and clearly.
• Good problem-solving skills, including process and root cause analysis.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate, influence, facilitate, and document to multiple audiences at varying levels of seniority.
• Ability to work independently and part of a team.
• Ability to support night shift on daily basis (Monday to Friday).
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
• You are comfortable and enjoy working in a dynamic and ever evolving environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure drives and test systems preparation upfront according to the validation request.
• Execute, monitor and ensure the completion of validation requests within timeline.
• Escalate any Automation issue to engineers.
• Perform 1st level FA – systems, drives, equipment, automation and interpreting results to make effective recommendations.
• Bring up to date for the Inventory Tracking System and System Management of all lab equipment - Drives, spare parts & FA device inventory, systems maintenance.
• Execute recovery plan upon infrastructure issue.
