MQUEST SDN. BHD. in Malaysia is seeking an embedded software engineer to bridge software and hardware in high-performance systems. You will design and implement bare-metal and RTOS firmware in C/C++, and drive hardware bring-up on prototype boards.
Responsibilities include low-level driver development, power/performance optimization, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware, QA, and product teams. Git workflows and code maintenance are expected.
You will bridge the gap between software and hardware to build high-performance embedded systems.
Architect and Develop: Design bare-metal and RTOS firmware in C/C++.
Hardware Bring-Up: Test and debug new prototype circuit boards.
Driver Development: Write low-level drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, and USB.
Optimize Performance: Minimize power consumption and maximize processing speed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with hardware, QA, and product teams.
Maintain Code: Use Git for version control and conduct code reviews.
Team Work: As part of a project team or as a leader of a defined section of a major project. Develops project plans, functional specifications and schedules.
Initiatives: Demonstrate initiative to go beyond what situations require and focuses on attention to detail by making sure that work is done correctly, completely, and to the highest standards
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related.
Languages: Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
Hardware Knowledge: Ability to read schematics and use oscilloscopes/logic analyzers.
OS Experience: Hands-on experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr) or bare-metal.
Protocols: Deep understanding of communication protocols (UART, RS232, RS485, SPI, I2C, CAN,…).
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, selecting and using appropriate debugging tools.
Familiar with data encoding/decoding/compression techniques, design and implementation of digital filters and DSP algorithms, DFT, data analysis and interpretation skills, hands on experience on fixed as well as floating point processors etc.
Wireless: Experience with LoRaWAN, BLE, or Wi-Fi stacks.
Scripting: Proficiency in Python for automation and testing.
Security: Familiarity with secure boot and cryptographic protocols.
