Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an organized and detail-oriented finance assistant to support daily accounting tasks in Malaysia. The role involves processing financial transactions, preparing statements, and reconciling accounts to ensure timely, accurate records.

The successful candidate will assist with month-end close, audits, and documentation while maintaining compliance with local standards. Mandarin-speaking abilities are preferred to support Mandarin-speaking customers.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (SPM, Diploma or bachelor's degree).
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Reliability and integrity when handling confidential financial information.
• Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is advantageous.
• Familiarity with financial reporting requirements and compliance standards is preferred.
• Proficiency in read and comprehend Mandarin-speaking candidates who will be serving Mandarin-speaking customers.

Responsibilities

• Processing and recording financial transactions in the accounting system with accuracy and timeliness.
• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports for management and external stakeholders.
• Reconciling bank statements, general ledger accounts, and subsidiary ledgers on a monthly basis.
• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment coordination.
• Supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintaining organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
• Assisting with the preparation of journal entries and ensuring proper coding of transactions.
• Supporting audits and providing documentation as required.
• Performing general administrative duties related to the finance department.
• Liaising with other departments to resolve discrepancies and obtain necessary financial information.
