Job summary

Epicon Berhad is seeking a senior finance professional to lead the finance function across the group in Malaysia. You will oversee accounting, consolidation, audit liaison, internal controls, and strategic financial support for construction projects.

The role requires 5–10 years in finance with at least 3 years in management, strong MFRS/MFRS 15 knowledge, and experience with ERP systems. Candidates should excel in leadership, communication, and working under pressure.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting with a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • 5–10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Proven experience in construction or property development industry (Malaysia).
  • Experience in publicly listed company is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of MFRS, especially MFRS 15 (Revenue).
  • Strong expertise in project costing, cash flow management, and corporate taxation.
  • Proficient in ERP systems; construction-specific accounting software is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous with integrity and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full spectrum of financial and management accounting functions, including group consolidation for the company and its subsidiaries.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with MFRS, Companies Act 2016, and Bursa Malaysia requirements.
  • Manage the annual audit process and act as the key liaison with external auditors.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Lead the financial management of all construction projects, including detailed project costing, progress billings, and revenue recognition under MFRS 15.
  • Monitor project budgets, analyze cost variances, and ensure project profitability.
  • Prepare and maintain project cash flow forecasts and manage funding requirements.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic financial forecasting.
  • Manage the Group's cash flow and treasury functions, optimizing working capital and ensuring liquidity.
  • Maintain relationships with bankers for credit facilities and project financing.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including corporate tax, SST, and withholding tax.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies such as LHDN, Customs, and SSM.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team; provide strategic insights to senior management.

  • Manage the annual audit process and act as the key liaison with external auditors.

2. Project Finance & Costing
  • Lead the financial management of all construction projects, including detailed project costing, progress billings, and revenue recognition in accordance with MFRS 15.
  • Work closely with project managers and the operations team to monitor project budgets, analyze cost variances, and ensure project profitability.
  • Prepare and maintain project cash flow forecasts and manage funding requirements.
3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Treasury
  • Lead the annual corporate budgeting process and periodic financial forecasting.
  • Manage the Group's cash flow and treasury functions, optimizing working capital and ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
  • Maintain and foster strong relationships with bankers to manage credit facilities, project financing, and other banking requirements.
4. Taxation & Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with all statutory requirements, including corporate income tax, Sales & Service Tax (SST), and withholding tax.
  • Manage and review tax computations and submissions, working closely with tax agents to optimize the company's tax position.
  • Liaise effectively with all relevant regulatory bodies, including LHDN, Royal Malaysian Customs, and Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).
5. Team Leadership & Strategic Support
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making and long-term business strategy.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess a Degree in Accounting with a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Proven experience within the construction or property development industry in Malaysia.
