Our client, a well-established food industry company, is seeking a Finance Manager to join their team!
This is a great opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take a senior role in leading the accounting function, working closely with the Financial Controller and stepping into their responsibilities when needed. Based in Tanjung Langsat, Pasir Gudang, Johor, this role offers the chance to oversee financial reporting, controls, and compliance for the company while providing leadership and direction to the finance team.
What you'll be doing?
- Supporting departmental leadership — Assist the Financial Controller in leading and directing the accounting department efficiently, ensuring timely processes and proper control procedures, particularly during month-end financial closing, and step in to lead the department in the Financial Controller's absence.
- Leading the finance team — Manage, provide direction, and supervise the finance staff to support a well-functioning, high-performing team.
- Establishing financial processes and controls — Establish and manage all necessary financial accounting processes, controls, and procedures.
- Overseeing general accounting — Take ownership of the company's general financial accounting function and its monitoring systems.
- Ensuring accurate financial reporting — Take responsibility for all statutory financial statements and Group financial reporting, ensuring these are completed accurately, on time, and to the deadlines given.
- Maintaining accurate general ledger records — Ensure financial transactions are posted to the general ledger from all sources in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with existing accounting standards, policies, and procedures, and in compliance with Malaysian and International Financial Reporting Standards (FRS) and Group standards.
- Supporting audit and compliance — Work with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Managing financial risk — Develop procedures within the department to minimise financial risks and regularly review the effectiveness of accounting controls.
- Managing cashflow — Manage the cash/fund pool and maintain up-to-date cashflow forecast information.
- Ensuring treasury compliance — Ensure compliance with Treasury policies and procedures.
- Coordinating tax matters — Liaise with the tax agent on the computation of tax, including Income Tax, GST, and Withholding Tax, and ensure timely filing of tax returns to the relevant tax authority.
- Supporting insurance processes — Provide financial information necessary for the renewal of yearly insurance coverage and support the insurance claim process.
Who are they looking for?
- Educational background — A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field provides a strong foundation for this role.
- Professional qualification — A Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification is required for this role.
- Relevant experience — At least five years of experience in accounting, including two years in a similar position, is required for this role.
- Location flexibility — Willingness to work in Tanjung Langsat, Pasir Gudang, Johor is required for this role.
- Systems knowledge — Familiarity with accounting systems and standards is important to manage day-to-day responsibilities effectively.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills — Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills are key to guiding the finance team and fostering strong working relationships.
- Stakeholder engagement — The ability to liaise with people at all levels of the organisation is important for success in this collaborative, cross-functional role.
