Job summary

Commerceplus is seeking a hands-on Finance Operations lead to own billing, collections, payments, and the books across multiple entities in Malaysia and beyond.

You will report to the Managing Director and work with external accountants, owning the entire finance function with a founder demanding timely numbers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Xero experience essential; live reconciliation exercise may be required.
• 4-6 years in finance operations within SME, agency, or services with multiple entities.
• Comfortable with multi-currency and cross-border transactions within Malaysia and Singapore.

Responsibilities

• Billing and receivables: issue invoices, validate inputs, manage AR ageing, and flag revenue not invoiced.
• Payments and payables: run scheduled vendor payments, reconcile creator payouts, manage inter-entity funding.
• Accounting and close: maintain Xero, prepare month-end packs, support annual audit and tax obligations.
• Reporting and control: produce monthly management pack, maintain fixed-cost register, support payroll inputs.

Commerceplus is a Southeast Asian ecommerce enabler. We run marketplace and social commerce operations for brands across Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop and Shopify in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. We operate several legal entities and we are growing. We run lean, we automate what we can, and we expect people to own their function rather than wait to be told.

The role

You own the day-to-day finance engine — billing, collections, payment runs, and the books that tell us whether the business is working. You are the single point of ownership for finance operations, reporting directly to the Managing Director and working alongside our external accountants.

This is a hands-on role with real scope. You will not be one of six people in a finance department. You will be the finance department, with an external firm behind you and a founder who wants the numbers early.

What you will do:

Billing and receivables

• Issue client invoices across all entities against the monthly retainer, commission and campaign billing calendar
• Validate billing inputs with account leads before invoices go out
• Own accounts receivable — ageing review, collections follow-up, escalation before an invoice passes 60 days
• Flag revenue delivered but not yet invoiced

Payments and payables

• Prepare scheduled payment runs for vendors, creditors, affiliates and creators, with full supporting documents for Managing Director authorisation
• Process affiliate and creator payout batches and reconcile them to campaign records
• Manage inter-entity and inter-bank funding so accounts are covered before payment day
• Maintain supplier records and verify bank details independently before first payment

Accounting and close

• Maintain Xero across all entities — bank reconciliation, coding, intercompany
• Own the monthly document pack to our external accountants and clear their queries on time
• Drive month-end close to working day 15
• Support the annual audit, Form C, tax computation, SST and LHDN e-Invoice obligations

Reporting and control

• Produce the monthly management pack — P&L by entity, cash position, AR ageing, 13-week cash forecast
• Maintain the fixed-cost register and flag variances against budget
• Fund payroll on schedule from inputs prepared by HR & Admin
• Maintain finance SOPs and the approval matrix

What we are looking for

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance; part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or MICPA an advantage
• 4-6 years in finance operations, ideally in an SME, agency or services business with more than one legal entity
• Hands-on Xero experience - essential. You will be assessed on a live reconciliation exercise
• Comfortable with multi-currency and cross-border transactions (Malaysia and Singapore)
• High-volume, low-value payout experience is a strong advantage
• Malaysian statutory familiarity: SST, EPF/SOCSO/EIS, Form C, LHDN e-Invoice
• Organised and discreet — you will handle confidential financial information under strict access rules
• Comfortable with Microsoft 365, Notion and AI-assisted workflows, with a bias towards automating repetitive work
• English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin an advantage for supplier work
