Job summary

Unigen Technology Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Cost Accountant to maintain inventory accuracy and product costing records for UMYS manufacturing operations, working with Finance, Warehouse, Supply Chain and Operations in the ERP system. The role focuses on inventory control, standard costing, BOMs and variances, supporting the monthly close.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 3–5 years' cost or inventory accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 3–5 years of cost or inventory accounting experience in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of standard costing, inventory valuation, BOMs and PPV.
• Experience with ERP systems; Oracle preferred.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor accurate inventory records for raw materials, WIP and finished goods.
• Review inventory receipts, issues, transfers, production consumption, returns and adjustments for accuracy and ERP treatment.
• Monitor cycle counts and physical inventory, investigate variances and work with Warehouse and Operations to resolve root causes.
• Maintain, review and update standard costs and ensure product/item costing is accurate and current.
• Review BOM, material, labor, overhead and other manufacturing cost components for reasonableness.
• Analyze purchase price variance (PPV), manufacturing variances and standard vs. actual costs, identifying significant or unusual items.
• Monitor work orders and investigate aged, incomplete or unusual WIP/work-order balances.
• Review inventory aging, slow-moving, excess and obsolete inventory and provide appropriate reporting to management.
• Reconcile inventory and costing records and support the inventory/costing portion of the monthly financial close.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and ensure underlying transactional or process issues are corrected rather than relying solely on accounting adjustments.

The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of inventory and product costing records for UMYS manufacturing operations. The role works closely with Finance, Warehouse, Supply Chain, Planning and Operations to ensure inventory quantities, movements, standard costs and manufacturing transactions are accurately maintained in the ERP system. The position is primarily focused on inventory control, manufacturing costing, analysis and data integrity, rather than routine journal-entry preparation.

Key responsibilities

Maintain and monitor accurate inventory records for raw materials, WIP and finished goods.

Review inventory receipts, issues, transfers, production consumption, returns and adjustments for accuracy and proper ERP treatment.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.

3–5 years of relevant cost accounting or inventory accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Practical knowledge of standard costing, inventory valuation, BOMs, work orders, PPV, cycle counts and manufacturing variances.

Experience with ERP systems; Oracle experience preferred.

Strong Excel and analytical skills.

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and reconciliation skills.

Comfortable working directly with Warehouse and Operations and investigating issues on the manufacturing floor.

Good written and verbal English communication skills.

Experience in electronics, semiconductor, EMS or contract manufacturing is an advantage.
