Job summary

Jobtailor in Kuala Lumpur seeks an experienced Fashion Product Developer to drive the end-to-end process from concept to bulk production. You will translate sketches into precise technical specs for suppliers and work with Buyers, Designers and Merchandisers to create commercially viable products.

You will prepare tech packs, measurement specs and material details, sourcing fabrics and trims while overseeing fit sessions and sample development. Strong English and Mandarin communication is a plus.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Technology, Apparel Production or related field.
3–5 years in fashion product development, garment design or apparel production.
Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, measurements and fabric properties.
Ability to interpret sketches and translate into technical specifications.
Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop; basic drawing or spec software is a plus.
Experience preparing tech packs and managing sample development.
Excellent project-management and multi-style deadline skills.
Commercial awareness including costings and value engineering.
Good communication and supplier-management skills.
English proficiency; Mandarin is an advantage when coordinating with suppliers.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end product development from concept to bulk production.
Translate designs into clear technical specs for suppliers.
Collaborate with Buyers, Designers and Merchandisers to develop viable products.
Prepare and maintain tech packs, measurement specs, materials and sample comments.
Source fabrics, trims, colours and construction methods.
Review samples for design accuracy, fit and quality.
Conduct fittings and communicate technical amendments to suppliers.
Monitor sample submissions and production timelines to meet deadlines.
Liaise with local and overseas suppliers, including Mandarin-speaking vendors.
Identify production, quality or delivery risks and resolve issues promptly.
Negotiate development costs and propose value-engineering solutions.
Maintain product records, sample tracking and supplier performance.
Support seasonal range development and ensure brand positioning.
