We are seeking a skilled Failure Analysis Technician with hands‑on experience in executing failure investigations, operating analytical equipment, and supporting engineering teams in identifying root causes of product issues.
Position Summary:
Lumileds is seeking a highly qualified Failure Analysis Technician to support FA Engineers in conducting failure analysis and product testing to meet manufacturing and customer requirements.
In this role, you will assist in performing detailed analysis, consolidate results into clear and accurate reports, and support the upkeep of the Failure Analysis Lab by overseeing maintenance activities and performing equipment calibration to ensure optimal performance.
What You Will Do:
Independently perform hands‑on Failure Analysis (FA) to support manufacturing and engineering development teams, utilizing a broad range of FA techniques and tools.
Collaborate closely with FA Engineers to execute complex analysis workflows and contribute to in‑depth investigations of product and process‑related failures.
Operate, maintain, and perform routine calibration of various FA equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
Consolidate, interpret, and document analysis results, supporting the preparation of comprehensive technical reports that outline background, methodology, key findings, and potential root cause hypotheses.
Lead routine preventive maintenance tasks and proactively manage consumables to minimize downtime and maintain lab efficiency.
Uphold high standards of lab organization, cleanliness, and compliance with 6S and safety protocols.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing analytical quality, lab productivity, and cost‑effectiveness.
Support training and knowledge‑sharing efforts for junior technicians or new team members.
Assist in the development and implementation of troubleshooting strategies to maximize equipment utilization and reduce analysis turnaround time.
Participate in cross‑functional discussions to improve FA workflows, drive root cause identification, and support corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
What You Will Bring (RequiredQualifications):
Technical Diploma or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (e.g., TAR College, BTEC HND, Government Polytechnic).
3–5 years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor failure analysis or an analytical lab environment.
Skilled in FA tools and techniques such as IV curve tracing, micro‑probing, optical microscopy, electroluminescence, decapsulation, polishing, cross‑sectioning, X‑ray, thermal IR, OBIRCH, PEM, ion milling, CSAM, SEM/EDX, and FIB. Experience with FTIR and Raman is a plus.
Solid knowledge of semiconductor devices, packaging, and failure mechanisms.
Able to independently conduct analysis and clearly document findings.
Experienced in equipment maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
Familiar with 6S, ESD control, and lab safety standards.
Detail‑oriented, analytical, and effective in a fast‑paced, high‑mix environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Diploma/Associate's
Electrical and Electronics, Material Science Engineering and Physics.
3 - 5 years
Preferred Qualifications:
Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Material Science.
