Job summary

Emerson is seeking a facilities technician to operate and monitor building systems across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. The role requires hands-on experience, a valid AO Chargeman certificate, and the ability to work rotating shifts.

You will maintain CMMS records, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to faults to ensure safe, efficient operations. Ideal candidates will have practical troubleshooting skills, a technical certificate, and experience with commercial building systems,

Qualifications

• A Technical Certificate or Diploma from a vocational school or recognized training institute.
• Willingness and ability to work on a rotating shift schedule.
• Valid AO Chargeman Certificate.
• Hands-on experience supporting commercial buildings or facility systems.
• Practical troubleshooting and problem-solving across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to breakdowns and emergencies.
• Basic computer skills to update maintenance records and use CMMS or digital log systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and continuously monitor facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire/life safety.
• Provide day-to-day operational support in response to service requests from facility users.
• Ensure all systems operate safely, efficiently, and within defined operating limits.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities per maintenance plans.
• Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and basic system adjustments.
• Identify and report abnormal operating conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Update preventive maintenance records, checklists, and work orders in CMMS or logs.
• Respond promptly to equipment faults, alarms, and service complaints.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and basic control system issues.
• Perform corrective repairs or temporary restorations to maintain operations.
• Escalate complex issues to engineers or supervisors as needed.
• Follow environmental, health, safety, and security procedures at all times.
• Maintain shift logs and prepare handover notes for next shift.

• Provide day-to-day operational support in response to service requests from facility users.

• Perform corrective repairs or temporary restorations to maintain operational continuity.
• Escalate complex or high-risk issues to engineers, supervisors, or external specialists as appropriate.
• Follow all environmental, health, safety, and security procedures at all times.
• Maintain clear and accurate shift logs, and prepare effective handover notes for the incoming shift or supervisor.
