Job summary

MTS Global Pte Ltd is seeking a Facilities Management Technician to support the safe, reliable operation of critical data centre infrastructure in Kulai, Malaysia. You will monitor systems using BMS/EPMS, perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, respond to alarms, and coordinate with engineers, vendors, and operations to keep high availability.

Qualifications

  • Certificate, SKM, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Building Services, Facilities Management, or related technical discipline.
  • Preferably 1–3 years of experience in facilities management, building services, plant operations, utilities, or data centre operations.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical distribution, backup power, cooling, fire protection, and safe maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor critical facilities through BMS, EPMS, DCIM, and other site systems; respond to alarms and faults.
  • Conduct scheduled rounds, inspections, and meter readings; record observations and escalate as needed.
  • Support operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire-protection, water, and control systems.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and checks under procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, assist fault isolation and service restoration, provide updates to Shift Lead.
  • Follow SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs; comply with permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, risk assessment, and change-control.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors or vendors during maintenance; verify scope, safety, and documentation.
  • Maintain shift logs, inspection checklists, work orders, maintenance records, and incident details.

Job description

The Facilities Management Technician supports the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of critical data centre infrastructure.

This role is responsible for round-the-clock monitoring, routine inspections, preventive maintenance support, and first-line incident response across electrical, mechanical, cooling, and life-safety systems.

The successful candidate will work closely with facilities engineers, security teams, vendors, and operations stakeholders to maintain high system availability and ensure strict compliance with site procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor critical facilities through BMS, EPMS, DCIM, and other site systems. Respond promptly to alarms, abnormal trends, and equipment faults.

Conduct scheduled equipment rounds, inspections, and meter readings. Identify risks, record observations, and escalat(e) issues according to site procedures.

Support the operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire-protection, water, and control systems serving the data halls and supporting areas.

Carry out assigned preventive and corrective maintenance activities, basic troubleshooting, and functional checks under approved procedures and supervision.

Respond to incidents and emergencies, assist with fault isolation and service restoration, and provide accurate updates to the Shift Lead and relevant stakeholders.

Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).

Comply with permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, risk-assessment, change-control, and escalation requirements.

Coordinate and supervise contractors or vendors during maintenance activities. Verify the work scope, safety compliance, housekeeping standards, and completion documentation.

Maintain accurate shift logs, inspection checklists, work orders, maintenance records, incident details, and equipment-status updates.

Candidate Profile

Certificate, SKM, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Building Services, Facilities Management, or another related technical discipline.

Preferably 1-3 years of experience in facilities management, building services, plant operations, manufacturing, utilities, or data centre operations.

Candidates with limited experience but strong technical fundamentals may also be considered.

Basic knowledge of electrical distribution, backup power, cooling systems, fire protection, and safe maintenance practices.

Ability to interpret equipment status, alarms, checklists, single-line diagrams, operating procedures, and technical documentation.

Hands-on troubleshooting mindset, with the ability to identify abnormal conditions, follow escalation procedures, and remain calm during incidents.

Comfortable using computers, maintenance-management systems, Microsoft Office, or Google Workspace for reporting and record-keeping.

Able to communicate clearly in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Mandarin proficiency is an advantage when coordinating with regional stakeholders but is not essential.

Willing and able to work rotating day and night shifts, weekends, and public holidays according to the site roster.
