Job summary

Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering is seeking a sustainability professional to execute, monitor, and support the implementation of strategic sustainability priorities across our business units to meet local and international standards. The role involves coordinating with departments to ensure effective delivery of the sustainability strategy and stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Sustainability, Environmental, Engineering, Applied Science, Science, Social Studies or related field.
• Certification in Sustainability (e.g. GRI, ISSB) or Master’s in Sustainability is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sustainability-related roles.

Responsibilities

• Execute, monitor, and support sustainability initiatives across business units.
• Maintain and benchmark frameworks against Bursa Malaysia, GRI, ISSB, and UN SDGs.
• Monitor KPIs, identify performance gaps, and implement mitigation actions.
• Collect and consolidate ESG data (GHG emissions, energy, diversity, health & safety) for reporting.
• Plan and coordinate Sustainable Supply Chain/Responsible Supply Chain programs.
• Track Scope 3 emissions and ensure alignment with GHG Protocol.
• Benchmark local and international sustainability indices and disclosures for compliance.
• Prepare Annual Sustainability Statement with stakeholder information.
• Conduct materiality assessments with internal and external stakeholders.
• Plan sustainability training and awareness programs.
• Support human rights-related matters with relevant units.

Job description

Execute, monitor, and support the implementation of sustainability strategic priorities by coordinating with relevant business units and meeting the requirements of local and international sustainability standards, to ensure effective delivery of MHB’s sustainability strategy, achieving its target, fulfilling stakeholders’ expectations and compliance with sustainability requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Streamline, execute and monitor MHB’s sustainability initiatives by assessing sustainability requirements through research and strategic thinking, and collaborating with relevant business units to effectively advance MHB’s sustainability agenda and achieve the established sustainability target.
• Maintain, update, and enhance MHB’s Sustainability and Climate Risk Frameworks, along with departmental procedures and/or guidelines by benchmarking against local and global standards and requirements such as Bursa Malaysia, GRI, ISSB, and UN SDGs and working closely with MISC Group to ensure alignment and support strategic sustainability goals.
• Monitor and review sustainability performance indicators (KPIs) by identifying performance gaps and working proactively with business units to plan mitigation actions and enhancement to ensure alignment with MHB corporate scorecard.
• Collect and consolidate ESG data (e.g., GHG emissions, energy consumption, diversity, health & safety) by engaging with relevant business units to ensure data is complete, accurate, and aligns with relevant sustainability disclosure standards to enable transparent, consistent, and credible ESG reporting and support internal / external assurance process.
• Plan, coordinate and implement MHB Sustainable Supply Chain / Responsible Supply Chain (RSC) program by collaborating with relevant business units and stakeholders to ensure alignment with MISC Sustainable Supply Chain program.
• Track, collect and analyse Scope 3 emissions within operations and supply chains by conducting periodical surveys and assessment complying the GHG Protocol and other related standards to ensure alignment with reporting disclosures standard and organisation commitment to Net-Zero 2050.
• Monitor and analyse emerging and current local or internationally recognised sustainability indices and disclosure platforms by conducting research and benchmarking to ensure compliance with the required requirements and regulations.
• Prepare and coordinate the production of Annual Sustainability Statement by collecting and organising sustainability performance information from relevant stakeholders to ensure the disclosure of sustainability performance is following applicable sustainability reporting requirements / standards.
• Review and conduct periodical sustainability materiality assessment by engaging internal and external stakeholders, analyzing industry trends, and aligning with local/ global standards to inform strategic decision-making, enhance sustainability reporting, and ensure alignment with MHB’s long-term sustainability goals.
• Plan and conduct sustainability-related training and awareness programs by developing targeted content and collaborating with business units to foster a sustainability-conscious culture and strengthen stakeholder alignment with MHB’s sustainability goals and corporate scorecard targets.
• Support and coordinate human right-related matters by collaborating with relevant business units to identify and address gaps and respond to stakeholders’ requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor degree in relevant field (Degree in Sustainability, Environmental, Engineering, Applied Science, Science, Social Studies).
• Certification in Sustainability (e.g. Sustainability Reporting, GRI, FSA)/ Master’s Degree in Sustainability or any equivalent (e.g. Environmental Management) as an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sustainability-related.
