Job summary

Allianz is seeking an experienced Life Underwriter in Kuala Lumpur to own risk decisions up to authority limits and collaborate with managers to meet personal and department KPIs. You will mentor junior underwriters, ensure timely turnaround times, and adhere to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements while engaging with Sales teams and agents to provide expert services.

A Bachelor's degree in Medical, Biotechnology or related field and 4–5 years of underwriting experience are

• Experience underwriting high sum assured is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and counter sign life insurance risks up to the concurred authority.

• Follow prudent underwriting guidelines; adhere to legal and compliance requirements.

• Support initiatives and projects aligned with Group direction.
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Underwrite life insurance risk in accordance to the concurred authority; ensure meeting personal KPI and work as a team to meet departments and company’s vision.

You'll be responsible for:

• Underwrite and counter sign life insurance risks up to the concurred authority.
• Work with immediate superiors and other managers to ensure personal KPI and departments KPI are met, this includes:
  • Daily personal productivity is met
  • Support the training and development of junior underwriter
  • Work with other team members to ensure overall department turnaround time are met
• To follow quality underwriting practice which includes prudent, competitive and consistent underwriting decision, follow the set guidelines (internal and reinsurer manuals); adhere to legal and compliance requirements, company and regional underwriting policy.
• Initiate, provide advice, responding to enquiries and foster good working relationship with the Sales Team and agents.
• Supporting the team in providing value-added underwriting services, including training, agency support initiatives, etc..
• Support initiative and project that are initiated from Group to ensure that we are align with Group and company direction.
• Any other duties as and when deemed necessary.

Important to your success:

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Medical, Biotechnology or related and equivalent
• At least 4-5 years of working experience in underwriting for life insurance or related field.
• Experience in underwriting high sum assured application is an added advantage.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to changes and implement them accordingly.
• Ability to leverage AI tools like ChatGPT for data analysis and generating actionable insights.
