Job summary

MISC Group, via its MISC Marine arm, seeks an experienced HR Business Partner to lead recruitment, onboarding and people management across its business units in Kuala Lumpur. The role focuses on stakeholder engagement, policy guidance and workforce planning to support sustainable growth.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in talent sourcing, performance management and industrial relations, with a proactive, independent and organized work style and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource / Business, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years in human resource management with a minimum of 3 years in talent sourcing & recruitment management, performance management, industrial relations and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Build collaborative relationships with employees and stakeholders.
  • Oversee recruitment from sourcing to onboarding for internal and external roles.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate performance management processes and calibration across business units.
  • Provide guidance on employee benefits, healthcare and related HR topics.

Job description

This role resides under MISC Marine (the Integrated Marine Services arm of MISC Group).

Key Accountabilities
Stakeholder Management
  • Build collaborative and trusting personal relationships with employees, addressing any concerns, queries and grievances that may arise.
  • Monitor the sentiment on the ground, highlighting any potential issues to the Manager HRBP or management that might require intervention.
  • Support & participate in Employee Engagement events.
Recruitment
  • Monitor and track vacancies to ensure all vacant positions are filled.
  • Plan and manage recruitment need by identifying the sourcing channels (i.e., advertisement in the media, via recruitment agencies, etc.) for all vacant positions to attract potential talents.
  • Implement the whole recruitment activities from assessment, negotiation, offering, and onboarding for both internal and external recruitment.
Onboarding & Offboarding
  • Manage the pre-onboarding activities for all new joiners to MISC Marine.
  • Collaborate with the HR Development, HSSE, Finance & other teams on the onboarding / orientation experience for new joiners.
  • Monitor and advise the new joiner & supervisor on the probation & confirmation process.
  • Manage the exit process for voluntary and involuntary leavers, including feeding back information to HR Lead and other stakeholders, proposing follow up action, reporting on trends.
Performance Management
  • Facilitate performance management process for business units and apply appropriate performance management methods and tools.
  • Guide and facilitate business units in their performance calibration.
  • Assist Manager HRBP in providing support to Divisions on matters related to poor performance management.
Employee Relations/Welfare
  • Provide guidance & advice to staff on queries related to Employee Benefits, healthcare & other HR related topics, directing more complex queries to the specialist HR teams or external professional assistances (medical, mental health, etc).
  • In the event of employees’ untimely passing, liaise with the employee’s next of kin and collaborate with the other internal teams on the effort in providing support & insurance claims to the next of kin.
Others
  • Assist the Manager HRBP in any other projects, initiatives or task as required.
Job Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource / Business, or a related discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in human resource management, with a minimum of 3 years specific experience in talent sourcing & recruitment management, performance management, industrial relations, and employee engagement.
