Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Malaysia’s Ipoh site seeks an experienced maintenance engineer to lead a technicians group and drive equipment reliability for die attach bonders, wire bonders, welders, ovens and testers.

You will coordinate new equipment set-ups, liaise with vendors, and champion process documentation and yield improvements. You will work with process and production teams to release equipment upgrades, reduce costs and ensure compliance with ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering fields (electronic/electrical/mechatronic/electromechanical) or related.
• Experience in networking, test processes or product transfer.
• Familiarity with product development process and releasing products to production.
• Able to read/evaluate electronic schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with fiber-optic/laser products.

Responsibilities

• Owns equipment maintenance and improvements for die attach bonders, wire bonders, welders, ovens, testers, etc.
• Leads a group of technicians.
• Identifies, leads and implements cost reduction activities.
• Prepares and performs new equipment set-up and buy-off.
• Ensures facilities are suitable for new equipment set-up.
• Liaises with equipment vendors to improve tool capability.
• Provides feedback on equipment/material issues and offers solutions to meet requirements.
• Collaborates with process engineers to update process documents and work instructions.
• Works with production to improve yield and UPH, including cost reductions.
• Ensures compliance with ISO, company rules, and applicable codes.
• Derives continual improvement and applies risk-based thinking.
• Direct involvement and hands-on operation with equipment.

• Provide feedback on equipment and material issues/make recommendations and offer solutions to ensure new products meet requirements.
• Work with process engineers in preparing and updating process documentations and work instructions for assembly line process and equipment.
• Work with production team in improving yield & UPH of the assigned processes, including cost reduction activities.
• Compliance to ISO Requirements, company rules & regulations, applicable codes etc
• Derive Continual Improvement
• Practice Risk Base Thinking in planning and execution of task
• Direct operations involvement and hands on skills on equipment's.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Professional Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering – Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronic/Electromechanical), Computer/Telecommunication or equivalent.
• Relevant working experience in networking, test process or product transfer.
• Familiar with product development process & proven success of releasing products to production.
• Understand basic test methodologies and able to interpret/read electronic schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Experience working with fiber-optic/laser products.
