Job summary

WD is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support and optimize substrate manufacturing equipment. You will own equipment operations, drive stability, quality, yield, and OEE while contributing to data-driven improvement initiatives.

You will perform maintenance, troubleshoot automation equipment, analyze data, design and test automation solutions, and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance control systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering; CS with hardware exposure encouraged.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent engineering software.
• Programming/data analysis skills: MATLAB, Python, C++, or R.
• Knowledge in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Structural Mechanics.
• Experience in technical report writing, field data collection, and equipment condition assessment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in operational environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting support to Manufacturing.
• Data analysis to identify inefficiencies and recommend enhancements. Participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and maintaining automation equipment and processes.
• Assist in designing, testing, and implementing automation solutions, including hardware and software components.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify opportunities for automation improvements.
• Support the integration of control systems, sensors, actuators, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to optimize performance.
• Document project progress, technical specifications, and outcomes for future reference and compliance. Stay updated on emerging automation technologies and contribute innovative ideas to improve system capabilities.
