Job summary

Al-Ambia Sdn Bhd is seeking an Environmental Officer on a contract basis in Selangor to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards across our operations.

You will monitor, assess and improve environmental practices, prepare regulatory submissions and reports, coordinate with external agencies and consultants, and perform audits and field visits. Strong report writing, data management and knowledge of EMS/ISO 14001 are desirable.

Qualifications

• Required degree in environmental discipline.
• Certification in environmental engineering is a plus.
• Experience with environmental standards and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental assessments and audits to identify risks and improvements.
• Monitor compliance with local, regional and national regulations.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans and policies.
• Prepare detailed environmental reports for regulatory submissions and stakeholders.

About the role

Al-Ambia Sdn Bhd is seeking an Environmental Officer to join our team on a contract basis in Selangor. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our operations maintain the highest environmental standards and comply with all relevant regulations and policies. As an Environmental Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring, assessing and improving our environmental practices across all business areas. Your work will directly contribute to Al-Ambia's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, making a meaningful impact on both our operations and the communities we serve.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct environmental assessments and audits to identify potential risks and areas for improvement
• Monitor environmental compliance with local, regional and national regulations and legislation
• Develop and implement environmental management plans and policies to ensure sustainable practices
• Prepare detailed environmental reports and documentation for regulatory submissions and internal stakeholders
• Coordinate with external agencies and environmental consultants on compliance matters and permit applications
• Conduct environmental training and awareness programmes for staff at all levels
• Investigate environmental incidents, non-conformances and complaints, implementing corrective actions
• Monitor waste management, air quality, water quality and other environmental parameters
• Maintain environmental records, databases and documentation systems
• Support the development and achievement of environmental targets and sustainability goals

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Professional certification or registration as an Environmental Engineer or equivalent qualification is highly desirable
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in environmental management, compliance or related roles
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and standards applicable in Malaysia
• Proficiency in environmental assessment methodologies and environmental impact assessment (EIA) processes
• Experience with environmental management systems (EMS) and ISO 14001 certification
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Strong communication and report-writing abilities
• Proficiency in relevant software and IT systems for data management and analysis
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Driving licence and willingness to conduct site visits and fieldwork
