Job summary

Exentec Services Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an Environmental Officer in Penang to lead site-based compliance with Malaysian environmental laws, client specifications, and Exentec procedures.

You will perform audits, manage waste, oversee emissions and spill controls, and coordinate with regulators, contractors, and project teams to drive sustainable practices across activities. The role requires strong documentation, reporting, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Occupational Safety & Health, Sustainability, or a related field
• Must be registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) as an Environmental Officer
• Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental management, construction, semiconductor, manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian OSH regulations, OSHA 1994, and EHS standards
• Experience in environmental compliance, waste management, audits, sustainability initiatives, EHS management systems implementation, and site compliance requirements is preferred
• Knowledge of Environmental Legislation & Regulatory Compliance, Environmental Impact & Risk Assessment, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and Waste Management & Scheduled Waste Regulations
• Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills
• Good documentation, reporting, and analytical capabilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Proactive and self-motivated approach to environmental management

Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with applicable environmental legislation, regulations, permits, licenses, approvals, and client requirements.
• Maintain and periodically review the Environmental Legal Register.
• Monitor compliance obligations and advise management on applicable environmental requirements.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, consultants, and contractors on environmental matters.
• Ensure all project activities comply with company environmental policies and procedures.
• Implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems in accordance with ISO 14001 and company standards.
• Develop, review, and update Environmental Management Plans (EMP), procedures, risk assessments, and environmental programs.
• Support environmental objectives, targets, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor environmental performance and ensure effective implementation of environmental controls.
• Identify environmental aspects, impacts, and risks associated with project activities.
• Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
• Develop mitigation measures and monitor effectiveness of environmental controls.
• Support environmental planning during project execution and operational activities.
• Manage scheduled and non-scheduled waste activities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of waste materials.
• Implement waste minimization, recycling, and resource conservation initiatives.
• Monitor pollution prevention programs to prevent environmental contamination.
