onsemi in Malaysia is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to perform detailed investigations of semiconductor devices and power modules. You will lead root-cause analyses using SEM/EDX, X-ray, curve tracer, and microscopy to identify failures and drive improvements.

You will document findings in detailed reports, present to internal teams and customers, and support EFAR investigations with cross-functional collaboration across Reliability, Product Development, and Manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or related field.
• 1-2 years of Failure Analysis experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with failure analysis tools and techniques.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills in English.

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our team as a Failure Analysis Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for performing detailed failure investigations and root cause analyses on discrete, analog, and power module products. Your work will support requests from customers (EFAR), Reliability teams, New Product Development, and Production.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical and physical failure analysis on semiconductor devices and power modules.
• Use tools such as SEM/EDX, X-ray, curve tracer, optical microscopy, cross-sectioning, and chemical decapsulation.
• Document findings in detailed reports and present results to internal teams and customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Reliability, Product Development, and Manufacturing.
• Support customer returns and field failure investigations (EFAR).
• Drive continuous improvement in failure analysis methodologies and lab capabilities.
• Maintain lab equipment and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Microelectronics, Materials Engineering, Electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in Failure Analysis process with 1-2 years of working experience is highly recommended/preferred.
• Fresh graduates with strong lab experience may also be considered.
• Hands-on experience with failure analysis tools and techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and reporting skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• This position requires the ability to work in shifts to support the lab's operational needs.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor device physics, IC fabrication processes, and IC design is highly recommended and preferred.
