Job summary

onsemi is seeking a Failure Analysis Technician to support our Failure Analysis lab services. You will perform detailed failure investigations and root cause analyses on discretes, analog, and power module products, reporting findings to internal teams and customers.

You will utilize techniques such as electrical characterization, SEM/EDX analysis, cross-sectioning, and other advanced failure analysis tools to identify failure mechanisms and provide actionable insights for product improvement

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical degree preferred.
• 1–2 years of failure analysis experience; fresh graduates with lab exposure may be considered.
• Hands-on experience with failure analysis tools and techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical and physical failure analysis on semiconductor devices and power modules.
• Use SEM/EDX, X-ray, curve tracer, optical microscopy, cross-sectioning, and chemical decapsulation.
• Document findings in detailed reports and present results to internal teams and customers.
• Collaborate with reliability, product development, and manufacturing teams.
• Support customer returns and field failure investigations (EFAR).

Job Summary:

onsemi is looking for a Failure Analysis Technician to support our Failure Analysis lab services. This position reports to the Failure Analysis Lab Section Head. In this role, you will be responsible to perform details failure investigations and root cause analyses on discretes, analog, and power module products. Your work will support requests either from internal production or external customers.

You will utilize various analytical techniques such as electrical characterization, physical inspection, cross-sectioning, SEM/EDX analysis, and other advanced failure analysis tools to identify failure mechanisms and provide actionable insights. Your findings will contribute to product improvement, yield enhancement, and customer satisfaction.

This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly through reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform electrical and physical failure analysis on semiconductor devices and power modules.
• Use tools such as SEM/EDX, X-ray, curve tracer, optical microscopy, cross-sectioning, and chemical decapsulation.
• Document findings in detailed reports and present results to internal teams and customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Reliability, Product Development, and Manufacturing.
• Support customer returns and field failure investigations (EFAR).

Drive continuous improvement in failure analysis methodologies and lab capabilities.

• Maintain lab equipment and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Other duties as needed or assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED. Technical degree, preferred.
• Experience in Failure Analysis process with 1-2 years of working experience is highly recommended/preferred.
• Fresh graduates with strong lab experience may also be considered).
• Hands-on experience with failure analysis tools and techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and reporting skills in English.

Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

This position requires the ability to work in shifts to support the lab's operational needs.
