Job summary
Generali Malaysia is seeking an experienced Engineering Underwriter to evaluate and underwrite Engineering and Construction risks within delegated authority. You will assess CAR, EAR, MB, CPM, EEI products and review project documentation, risk exposures and risk engineering reports.
The role requires 5+ years in Engineering Underwriting, strong negotiation and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office and underwriting systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Insurance, Risk Management or related field.
- Professional insurance qualifications (ACII, ANZIIF, AII, AMII or equivalent) add advantage.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Engineering Underwriting or Construction & Engineering Insurance.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite Engineering risks within delegated authority.
- Assess CAR, EAR, MB, CPM, EEI and related products.
- Evaluate project documentation, risk exposures, and risk engineering reports.
- Determine pricing, terms, conditions, warranties and deductibles.
- Recommend risks exceeding authority limits for referral.
- Monitor portfolio performance, premium growth and loss ratio.
- Review claims trends and emerging risks.
- Support portfolio optimization and renewal strategies.
- Ensure business growth aligns with underwriting profitability objectives.
