Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a talented engineer with underwriting experience to join the Asia Engineering reinsurance team in Kuala Lumpur, supporting infrastructure risk assessment and profitable growth in Malaysia and SEA markets.

You will report to a team leader in KL and split time between underwriting support and pre-underwriting analytical work for Asian Engineering desks. Opportunity to train, advise clients, and contribute to digital strategy and new product initiatives.

Qualifications

• University degree in an Engineering Discipline with 3+ years' experience in infrastructure projects or loss adjusting.
• Underwriting experience in primary insurance or reinsurance is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, multicultural, matrix organization.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability; commercial mindset under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and assess infrastructure insurance businesses regarding risk exposure, coverage review, risk modelling and costing.
• Support business origination and build strong relationship with business partners in assigned markets.
• Follow up on post underwriting activities including compiling underwriting documentation in accordance with company guidelines, handling post-bind policy amendments or treaty special acceptance, ensuring data quality in IT system, supporting claim handling and reserving review.
• Collaborate with cross functional team to execute market strategies.
• Provide technical advice and conduct training sessions for both Swiss Re clients and internal teams.
• Support Swiss Re Engineering Digital strategy, new product development initiatives, market research and other growth initiatives such as IDI, Renewable Energy solutions.
• Ensure efficient coordination with internal stakeholders such as other Specialty lines, Key Account managers, P&C Client Underwriters, P&C Treaty / Fac, Business Services, Claims and Finance
