Job summary

MerchantSpring is seeking an Engineering Manager to own the engineering function and lead the next growth phase for our API-first data platform. You will lead 11 engineers across ETL, API and AI/MCP squads, shaping technical strategy, architecture and culture while working closely with the CEO.

You’ll still code when needed, mentor teams, and evolve toward organizational leadership as we scale, partnering with Sales and Client Success.

Qualifications

Lead a team of engineers (8–15) while staying close to architecture.
Translate business goals into a technical roadmap across squads.
Own incident practices and platform reliability at scale.
Mentor engineers; set delivery standards and best practices.
Experience scaling multi-tenant, high-volume data platforms and APIs.

Responsibilities

Define technical vision and architecture across ETL, API and AI/MCP squads.
Scale API and data platform to handle more channels, volume and external builders.
Own infra economics; optimize database and infrastructure costs as you scale.
Foster a strong team culture; hire, mentor and coach engineers.
Collaborate with Sales and Client Success to align roadmap with market needs.
