Job summary

Tan Chong Group in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Lean/ Productivity Engineer to plan and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. The role focuses on deploying Lean tools to identify and eliminate wastes and drive cost savings, quality and safety gains.

You will apply Lean concepts such as 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, TPM and SMED, conduct capacity analyses and time studies, and develop KPIs and reporting.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate minimum – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with lean manufacturing education.
• Strong analytical skills with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint proficiency.
• Proactive and willing to learn via a Learning by Doing approach.
• Passion for Productivity and Lean Management concepts.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate continuous improvement using Lean Thinking.
• Deploy lean tools to identify and eliminate wastes within operations.
• Understand Lean concepts including 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Standard Work, Pull, VSM, TPM and SMED.
• Conduct capacity analysis and time studies on equipment uptime and cycle time for improvement.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement to reduce costs and improve quality and safety.
• Develop metrics for monitoring productivity, KPIs, OEE and cost reduction opportunities.
• Use Productivity Diagnosis template to elevate Biz Unit productivity.

Job description

Job Requirement:

• Plan and coordinate continuous improvement such as in Lean Thinking approach.
• Deploy lean manufacturing tools with the goal of identification and elimination of the seven wastes of manufacturing within the company operations
• Understand the Lean manufacturing concepts, including 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Standard Work, Pull, Value Stream Mapping, Total Productive Maintenance, and SMED
• Capacity analysis, Time study on equipment uptime and cycle time for continuous improvement Promote and sustain a culture of continuous improvement that will result in cost savings, quality improvements, and safety improvements, significantly lowering the cost of production of the company’s products
• Develop metrics for monitoring the progress being made at the facility, with emphasis on reporting such in lE, OEE, cost reduction opportunities and supporting the respective company on defined Productivity KPIs target
• Use Productivity Diagnosis template to gauge Biz Unit to level up Productivity activities.
• “Learning by Doing” Lean approach in the Biz Unit

• Undergraduate minimum – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical or other Manufacturing emphasis, with additional specific education in lean manufacturing and/or Lean Six Sigma would be an advantage
• Strong analytical skills along with a solid understanding of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
• Proactive and willing to carry out “Learning by Doing” approach
• Passion on Productivity and Lean Management concept
