Job summary

Mindteck is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, implement, and maintain firmware for mission-critical communication devices across industrial segments in Malaysia. You will participate in all phases of the SDLC from requirements gathering to release validation, define software requirements for new platforms and features, and develop architectural specs, ICDs, and MSCs.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience developing real-time embedded software for mission-critical communication equipment and industrial systems.
• Strong proficiency in C and/or C++, with OOAD and data structures.
• Knowledge in embedded software development, e.g. drivers, protocols, WiFi, DSP, 5G/LTE, and embedded Linux.
• Experience in real-time embedded software development for communication devices and automotive/industrial applications.
• Good knowledge of microprocessors and controller design.
• Real-time OS knowledge is essential.
• Experience with embedded debugging tools and on-chip debuggers.
• Experience with Bitbucket/GitHub/Jira.
• Experience in AI (AI Agentic, SDD, Co-pilot).

Job description

Responsible for design, implement, and maintain firmware for communication devices for the professional and mission critical markets in the commercial, government and industrial segments.

Participate across all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering and system-level architecture to board bring-up, integration, and release validation.

Define specifications which include software requirements for new software platforms and/or new system features/solutions.

Develop architectural specifications, technical requirements, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and Message Sequence Charts (MSCs).

Lead and/or participate in peer code reviews, design walkthroughs, and architectural evaluations to uphold rigorous safety and quality standards.

Able to diagnose complex system-level issues with or without using lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and JTAG/SWD debuggers).

Partner closely with global R&D centers, hardware teams, and system validation engineers to deliver cohesive product solutions.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience developing real‑time embedded software for mission‑critical communication equipment, industrial automation, or automotive systems.
• Strong proficiency in C and/or C++, with solid foundations in Object‑Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) and data structures.
• Knowledge in embedded software development e.g. Drivers, Protocols, WiFi, DSP, 5G/LTE and embedded Linux.
• Experience in real‑time embedded software development for communication devices, automotive applications, industrial automation and consumer products.
• Good knowledge of microprocessors and controller design.
• Possess real time operating system knowledge.
• Experience with embedded debugging tools, on‑chip debuggers, and hardware test equipment (oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers).
• Experience with Bitbucket/GitHub/Jira
• Experience in AI (AI Agentic, SDD, Co‑pilot)
