Job summary

Quectel Malaysia is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to join our Penang team. You will contribute to RTOS/Linux design and implementation for WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular, and Ethernet components, and support Ikotek’s embedded product line across handhelds, CPEs, routers, and IoT devices.

You will debug, optimize, and work with customers to resolve BSP and system issues. Based in Penang, you should be able to travel for on-site support and collaborate with global teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Must-have: degree in CS/EE/communications or related field.
• 3+ years of C/C++ development on Linux/RTOS.
• Experience with kernel middleware and device drivers.
• ARM SOC device experience is a plus.
• Familiar with USB/I2C/SPI/UART interfaces and GPIO/ADC.

Responsibilities

• Provide quick responses to customer software technical questions; travel for on-site APAC support.
• Design and implement RTOS/Linux components including WIFI/BT/Cellular/Ethernet.
• Support Ikotek solutions based on client requirements.
• Assist API and software client development for embedded products (handhelds, CPEs, routers).
• Stabilize RTOS/Linux systems and optimize performance and power usage.
• Debug code and assist software testing teams.
• Help customers solve BSP/System issues for projects.

Skills

C/C++ on Linux/RTOS

Linux kernel middleware & drivers

ARM-32/64 SOC experience

Peripheral interfaces USB/I2C/SPI/UART

GPIO/ADC pin-control

Socket IPC & multithreading

TCP/IP/DHCP networking

OpenWRT / Yocto knowledge

Willingness to travel

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or above in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Communications, or related fields
